ELSA Emotional Literacy Support Assistant
Emotional Literacy Support Assistants (ELSAs) support children's emotional literacy development at school. This is a short-term (6-8 weeks) intervention focusing on a specific and targeted area for development. ELSA's receive termly support from the Psychology and Therapeutic Service at the Local Authority to ensure children are being supported effectively.
Working with children as an ELSA can include working on:
- emotional literacy and awareness
- self-esteem
- active listening and communication skills
- understanding and managing anger
- social skills
- friendship skills
- therapeutic stories
